Who We Are
The New Century Singers is a community chorus dedicated to the performance of music by American composers and arrangers.

Founded by Music Director, W. Robert Johnson, in 1975 just prior to the nation's Bicentennial celebration, the group has been presenting concerts to appreciative audiences in the greater Washingon metropolitan area ever since. Though group members are amateur musicians, we all bring years of experience making music by singing, playing instruments, or performing on stage in a variety of productions. Our combined sound is definitely professional when offering our eclectic repertoire of jazzy popular standards, gospel, folk and art song, cantatas, show tunes or seasonal pieces.

The Singers have performed the music of many of America's most beloved popular and "serious" composers, and we enjoy the challenge of broadening our repertoire with each new concert season. We also have been proud to feature works by local area composers such as Marshal Ocker, Daniel Gawthrop, Richard Dirksen, Charlene Moore Cooper, and others.

For chance to hear what we sound like - listen to a short clip from Bright Journeys by Daniel Gawthrop. Choose from the Quicker to download version or the Clearer version.
